Call for Papers for the 46Annual PAJ Conference
The the Annual Conference of Phenomenological Association Japan will take place at
Hokkaido University, on November 16th
& 17th, 2024.
The executive committee of PAJ invites Talk Proposals and Workshop Proposals on any topic relevant to phenomenology.
Workshop proposals must be based on joint projects on exploratory or experimental themes.

Instructions for Submissions
Submitting Talk Proposals
- You must submit one Microsoft Word document of A4 size as e-mail attachment containing a cover page that provides detailed contact information followed by an abstract prepared for anonymous review. In addition, if you have difficulty in participating in the entire program due to pregnancy, childcare, illness, or any other reason, please indicate suitable time slots in the e-mail.
- The cover page must include all of the following:
Paper title
Author name
Contact information (home address, phone number, and electronic address)
Institutional affiliation
These are not included in the word count of the abstract. - The abstract must start on a new page. It must be no more than 800 words in English, German, or French including bibliography, not exceeding two A4 pages.
- Applicants will be informed of acceptance and rejection decisions by the end of July. Accepted abstracts will be published on our website before the meeting. Accepted speakers will have 30 minutes to present their papers, followed by a 15 minutes discussion, at the conference.
- Applicants must be a member of Phenomenological Association Japan.
Submitting Workshop Proposals
- Your submission should contain one Microsoft Word document of A4-size as e-mail attachment containing a cover page that provides detailed contact information followed by a workshop proposal.
- The cover page must include all of the following:
Workshop title
Organizer name
Contact information (home address, phone number, and electronic address) - The workshop proposal must start on a new page and include all of the following:
Workshop title
Organizer name and her/his academic affiliation
Speaker names and their academic affiliations
Abstract for the workshop
The abstract must describe the whole workshop, as well as the contents of each presentation within it, in one A-4 page (about 400-500 words in English, German, or French). - Workshop organizers must be members of PAJ at the time of submission, but both members and non-members can be speakers. The number of speakers in a single workshop is unlimited. You cannot have the organizer and all the speakers from the same academic institution.
- Applicants will be informed of acceptance and rejection decisions by the end of July. The length of time for each workshop will be 120 minutes.
- Organizers must submit workshop reports (no longer than 2,500 words in English, German, or French) to Annual Review of the Phenomenological Association of Japan, volume 40, to be issued in November 2024.
